The ancient Greek word "δώδεκα""twelve" from the Greek words for "two" and "ten". The Latin word "duadecim""twelve". The modern Greek word "δώδεκα" (THO-theh-ka) ≈ "twelve".
The Old English word "twelf""twelve" comes from "two" and "left". That is, there are two left when ten is taken away. The word for "left" meant the same thing as "lacks". The English word "twelve" is related to the German word "zwölf""twelve".

The German word "dutzend""dozen" comes from Latin as does the Russian word "дюжина" (du-schi-na) ≈ "dozen".

By the time I tell you 12 boring jokes about eggs you will be a "dozen". Did you know that "thirteen" "dozen" like "twelve"?

Two ways of looking at the same thing: Six of one or half dozen of the other.

8. Matthew 26:53

η δοκεις οτι ου δυναμαι παρακαλεσαι τον πατερα μου και παραστησει μοι αρτι πλειω δωδεκα λεγιωνας αγγελων [gnt]

This may have been how Matthew remembered the arrest scene after the Last Supper. It is unlikely that he was writing down, in the dark, what was being said.

Thus, we are left with the Greek word for "twelve" being used two times in one verse by Jesus.

Saying: (On the one hand) Six of one, (but on the other hand) half dozen of the other.

9. Mark 5:9 Legions
Mark 5:9 And he asked him, What is thy name? And he answered, saying, My name is Legion: for we are many. [kjv]

Greek as recorded: Play on words:

13. Play on words
Twelve and thus ka-

The first part of the Greek word for "twelve" can be a play on words with "at that time" (and similar meanings) based on the similarity of the "d" and "t" sounds.

To be a play on words, the following word needs to connect to the "ka-" prefix.

14. Matthew 26:53
Matthew 26:53 Thinkest thou that I can not now pray to my Father, and he shall presently give me more than twelve legions of angels? [kjv]
η δοκεις οτι ου δυναμαι παρακαλεσαι τον πατερα μου και παραστησει μοι αρτι πλειω δωδεκα λεγιωνας αγγελων [gnt]

What might Jesus mean by "yet" "more (than)" "twelve" "legions" (of) "angels"?

If the "legions" are "cooperative" might they be "co-legions"? Might we say they are "collegial"?

The English word "collegial" comes, through French, from "collegialis""collegial" which comes from the Latin word "collegium""colleagues" and is a doublet of the English word "college". Note that the Latin "c" was a "k" sound as is the "c" in "college" and "collegial" today.
