Question : What are reasons people give that the Bible is true?
There are many reasons why people think the Bible is true.

4. Bible Hub: Why the Bible is Trustworthy
Question: If someone is trustworthy, does it mean that what they say is true? Explain.
Bible Hub entitles their truth section Why the Bible is Trustworthy. This avoids directly saying that the Bible is true.
5. Bible Hub: The Bible Declares Itself to Be God-Breathed
1.
The Bible Declares Itself to Be God-Breathed:
From cover to cover, Scripture boldly claims a divine origin. As it says in 2 Timothy 3:16, “All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for instruction, for conviction, for correction, and for training in righteousness.” This heartens us to trust its words because it isn’t just another human book—it stems from a Author who always tells the truth.
This is circular reasoning.
2 Timothy 3:16 and converse error.
6. Bible Hub: Jesus Endorsed Its Reliability
2.
Jesus Endorsed Its Reliability:
Whenever He quoted ancient texts, Jesus treated them as solid truth. In Matthew 24:35, He promises, “Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will never pass away.” His unshakable confidence in Scripture encourages us to hold the same view.
Assuming the conclusion. Circular reasoning.
7. Bible Hub: It Shares a Unified Message
3.
It Shares a Unified Message:
Despite being written across centuries by numerous authors, the Bible presents a singular, cohesive narrative. From Genesis to Revelation, we see the same focus: humanity’s fall and the offer of redemption. Such unity underlines a beyond-human design weaving each part together.
Do other texts have a unified message?
8. Bible Hub: Prophecies Fulfilled Against All Odds
4.
Prophecies Fulfilled Against All Odds:
Scripture contains detailed prophecies completed to the letter, and these aren’t vague guesses but specific events. Isaiah foretold a suffering servant long before Jesus, and the match to Christ’s life is astonishing. In Luke 24:44, Jesus stated, “Everything must be fulfilled that is written about Me.” When the markers line up exactly, our trust in the Bible soars.
This is the closest to authentication of the message in this list.
Prophecies must be in place long before the fulfillment.
Prophecy must be clearly fulfilled.
Probabilitiy must be assigned.
Is independence assumed? So that the prophecy might be fulfilled ...
9. Bible Hub: Honest Portrayal of Flawed Heroes
5.
Honest Portrayal of Flawed Heroes:
Rather than glossing over mistakes, the Bible highlights the weaknesses of its main characters. David, Moses, and Peter all missed the mark at times, yet God’s grace prevailed. This authenticity rings true because real history doesn’t whitewash its figures.
Fixed point reasoning violation.
Security as a cat and mouse game.
Heisenburg's uncertainty principle.
Min-max theory it game analysis.
10. Bible Hub: Written by God’s Chosen Witnesses
6.
Written by God’s Chosen Witnesses:
Many biblical writers were eyewitnesses of the events they recorded or interviewed those who were. Luke, for instance, began his Gospel by noting his careful investigation. As he wrote in Luke 1:3–4, “I myself have carefully investigated everything from the beginning… so that you may know the certainty of the things you have been taught.” This emphasis on facts points to a reliable record.
Assuming the conclusion. Circular reasoning.
11. Bible Hub: Its Transforming Power
7.
Its Transforming Power:
Countless people testify to the Bible’s life-changing impact. Romans 12:2 urges, “Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.” There’s a vibrant echo of this power across generations—hearts shifted, minds set free, and hope revived.
How many are transformed by various methods. Diet methods.
12. Bible Hub: It Offers a Consistent Moral Compass
8.
It Offers a Consistent Moral Compass:
Throughout the centuries, cultural standards change, yet the Bible’s moral teaching remains steady. James 1:17 reminds us, “Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, with whom there is no change or shifting shadow.” That unwavering nature helps us trust its guidance for living.
Does anything else do this?
Who decides what constitutes a consistent moral compass.
13. Bible Hub: It Stands Firm Against Opposition
9.
It Stands Firm Against Opposition:
Empires rose and fell, critics scoffed, yet the Bible endures. In 1 Peter 1:25, it is written, “The word of the Lord stands forever.” That durability speaks volumes: many books disappear with time, but here is one that remains unbroken, consistently proclaimed, and treasured by billions.
Do other religions and beliefs stand firm against opposition?
14. Bible Hub: It Leads to Life and Hope
10.
It Leads to Life and Hope:
Above all, the Bible points the way to salvation. Romans 10:9 assures, “If you confess with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.” No other book offers such certain hope and everlasting promise—a final reason to trust its accuracy and embrace it with confidence.
Where is this life and hope manifested?
Assuming the conclusion. Circular reasoning.

15. James 1:16-17 Astronomical words
James 1:16 Do not err, my beloved brethren. [kjv]
μη πλανασθε αδελφοι μου αγαπητοι [gnt]
1:17 Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning. [kjv]
πασα δοσις αγαθη και παν δωρημα τελειον ανωθεν εστιν καταβαινον απο του πατρος των φωτων παρ ω ουκ ενι παραλλαγη η τροπης αποσκιασμα [gnt]
… desursum … luminum … transmutatio … vicissitudinis obumbratio [v]
It is sometimes pointed out that James uses
astronomical terms, not often used elsewhere, to describe the "
Father". Some of those terms were used by Plutarch (46-119) many years
after James supposedly wrote his letter. If James is the brother of Jesus and a fisherman from Galilee, how did he learn about Greek astronomy and use these words (in a technical sense)
before they were used by Plutarch?

16. Focus on the Family: Documentation
1.
Documentation:
There is significantly more documentation for the books of the Bible than there are for other historically recognized authors and literature, including Plato and others.
How much documentation is required to show something true?
Have some governments, historicaly, printed a lot of documentation that is not true? Think Animal Farm.
17. Focus on the Family: Archaeological findings
2.
Archaeological findings:
Excavation sites and artifacts also provide evidence that many of the events, people, and places mentioned in the Bible really existed, including the Hittite people and the city of Jericho.
This shows that certain historical statements in the Bible are true?
Common logical fallacy.
The Bible says A is true.
You think that A is false from secular views.
You find out that A is really true.
You decide that the Bible is true.
18. Focus on the Family: Eyewitness accounts
3.
Eyewitness accounts:
The Gospels give multiple points of view and, in many cases, were written within the lifetimes of the people who witnessed the events recorded in the Bible. Writers focused on different aspects, but they had the same message: Jesus taught, healed, performed miracles, died on the cross, and rose from the dead.
Are eye witness accounts reliable?
Eyewitness accounts:
What they saw knowing it was important.
What they heard.
What was written down (e.g., by Matthew).
What they saw not realizing that they would be asked later.
[Peter verse]
19. Focus on the Family: The life of Jesus
4.
The life of Jesus:
4. The life of Jesus: The fact that Jesus was a real, historical person is clearly documented by Jewish manuscripts, even before the Apostle Paul and the writers of the Gospels provided their eyewitness accounts. Other ancient cultural documents also reference his existence. For example, the Roman leader and historian, Tacitus, wrote:; “Nero fastened the guilt and inflicted the most exquisite tortures on a class hated for their abominations, called Christians by the populace. Christus, from whom the name had its origin, suffered the extreme penalty during the reign of Tiberius at the hands of one of our procurators, Pontius Pilatus…”
How does this show the Bible is true?
20. Focus on the Family: Redeemed lives
5.
Redeemed lives:
We see evidence of the Bible’s trustworthiness by the lives that have been changed and redeemed by it. A few examples include C.S. Lewis, a former atheist who became one of world’s leading Christian apologists, and John Newton, a former slave-ship master who converted to Christianity and penned “Amazing Grace.”
How many lives have been redeemed for various reasons?
