Zechariah 9:1-17

Zechariah 9:1 The burden of the word of the LORD in the land of Hadrach, and Damascus shall be the rest thereof: when the eyes of man, as of all the tribes of Israel, shall be toward the LORD. [kjv]

χαιρε σφοδρα θυγατερ σιων κηρυσσε θυγατερ ιερουσαλημ ιδου ο βασιλευς σου ερχεται σοι δικαιος και σωζων αυτος πραυς και επιβεβηκως επι υποζυγιον και πωλον νεον [lxx]

LXX (Septuagint): ...... (he is) righteous and makes well/heals (he is) meek and confirming on (a) beast of burden and (a) new colt.

Once Matthew decides that this verse both fits and is prophetic of this event, words need to be changed and translated appropriately. It the LXX, Zechariah does not use the word for "donkey" or "ass". Jesus does use that word. This is an instance of the converse error.

Perhaps there is an idea from the HOT (Hebrew Old Testament) that fits better than what Zechariah says.

The KJV (King James Version) translates the Hebrew as "foal" of an "ass" what the Greek LXX is "beast of burden".

Picking verses out of context to support one's POV (Point of View) is often called cherry picking.

*H860 אָתוֹן (aw-thone') : probably from the same as H386 (in the sense of patience); a female donkey (from its docility):--(she) ass.

In Biblical issues, the common way for someone to deceive, intentionally or otherwise, is to "cherry-pick" verses out of context and piece them together to support the desired point of view - which is often not the view of God as expressed by scripture.
Be aware of verses skipped, verses "cherry-picked" from various contexts that may be out of context, etc. When Satan tempts Jesus, Satan uses scripture out of context. Jesus answers and refutes Satan with scripture in context.

The use of "cherry-picked" is sometimes called "suppressed evidence" or "incomplete evidence". Whatever it is called, it encourages what is called "confirmation bias" and, as a result, a "faulty generalization" or "hasty generalization".
