HYMN NO. 310 (Verse 1) "He Lives"
I serve a risen Savior, he's in the world today;
I know that he is living, whatever foes may say.
I see his hand of mercy, I hear his voice of cheer,
and just the time I need him, he's always near.
He lives, he lives, Christ Jesus lives today!
He walks with me and talks with me along life's narrow way.
He lives, he lives, salvation to impart!
You ask me how I know he lives? He lives within my heart.

19. Matthew 21
20. Matthew 22
21. Matthew 22:1 Again another parable
22. Matthew 22:2-4 Parable of the wedding feast
Matthew 22:2 The kingdom of heaven is like unto a certain king, which made a marriage for his son, [kjv]
22:3 And sent forth his servants to call them that were bidden to the wedding: and they would not come. [kjv]
22:4 Again, he sent forth other servants, saying, Tell them which are bidden, Behold, I have prepared my dinner: my oxen and my fatlings are killed, and all things are ready: come unto the marriage. [kjv]
23. Matthew 22:5-9
Matthew 22:5 But they made light of it, and went their ways, one to his farm, another to his merchandise: [kjv]
22:6 And the remnant took his servants, and entreated them spitefully, and slew them. [kjv]
22:7 But when the king heard thereof, he was wroth: and he sent forth his armies, and destroyed those murderers, and burned up their city. [kjv]
22:8 Then saith he to his servants, The wedding is ready, but they which were bidden were not worthy. [kjv]
22:9 Go ye therefore into the highways, and as many as ye shall find, bid to the marriage. [kjv]
24. Matthew 22:10-14
Matthew 22:10 So those servants went out into the highways, and gathered together all as many as they found, both bad and good: and the wedding was furnished with guests. [kjv]
22:11 And when the king came in to see the guests, he saw there a man which had not on a wedding garment: [kjv]
22:12 And he saith unto him, Friend, how camest thou in hither not having a wedding garment? And he was speechless. [kjv]
22:13 Then said the king to the servants, Bind him hand and foot, and take him away, and cast him into outer darkness; there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth. [kjv]
22:14 For many are called, but few are chosen. [kjv]
Who are the "
many"? Who are the "
chosen"?

26. 2 Kings 9:13 Jehu is king
2 Kings 9:13 Then they hasted, and took every man his garment, and put it under him on the top of the stairs, and blew with trumpets, saying, Jehu is king. [kjv]
και ακουσαντες εσπευσαν και ελαβον εκαστος το ιματιον αυτου και εθηκαν υποκατω αυτου επι γαρεμ των αναβαθμων και εσαλπισαν εν κερατινη και ειπον εβασιλευσεν ιου [lxx]
*H1634 גֶּרֶם (gheh'-rem) : from H1633; a bone (as the skeleton of the body); hence, self, i.e. (figuratively) very:--bone, strong, top.
The word for
"top" appears once in the
LXX (Septuagint). The translators of the
LXX transliterated the Hebrew word.
Jehu is sometimes associated as a King that rode a
"donkey" as a symbol of "
peace" but I could not find any verses to support this. Jehu does, as an example, fit will into the Parable of the Wedding Feast.
27. 2 Kings 10:16-30 King Jehu and the feast of the false prophets
What would you think if some cannibals invited you over for dinner?
Do wolves invite sheep over for dinner?
Did King Jehu invite the false prophets over for a feast?
28. Wasps
Is this wasp spray good for wasps?
No. It kills them.
God is good. Is God good for you?
(discuss)
Might this change the meaning of "
God will take care of you"? Is that "
reward" good or bad? What is a "
just reward"? What is "
recompense"? Do you get "
stressed" thinking about just "
desserts"?
What do monks say at the start of fumigation day?
Let us spray.
Why are nuns not allowed to wear perfume?
The convent will not tolerate such nun scents.
29. 2 Kings 10:16
2 Kings 10:16 And he said, Come with me, and see my zeal for the LORD. So they made him ride in his chariot. [kjv]
και ειπεν προς αυτον δευρο μετ εμου και ιδε εν τω ζηλωσαι με τω κυριω σαβαωθ και επεκαθισεν αυτον εν τω αρματι αυτου [lxx]
Jehonadab the son of Rechab is speaking to
Jehu.
30. Chariots
31. 2 Kings 10:16
KJV: And he said, Come with me, and see my zeal for the LORD. So they made him ride in his chariot.
Hebrew: ויאמר לכה אתי וראה בקנאתי ליהוה וירכבו אתו ברכבו׃
Greek: και ειπεν προς αυτον δευρο μετ εμου και ιδε εν τω ζηλωσαι με τω κυριω σαβαωθ και επεκαθισεν αυτον εν τω αρματι αυτου
32. 2 Kings 10:17
2 Kings 10:17 And when he came to Samaria, he slew all that remained unto Ahab in Samaria, till he had destroyed him, according to the saying of the LORD, which he spake to Elijah. [kjv]
και εισηλθεν εις σαμαρειαν και επαταξεν παντας τους καταλειφθεντας του αχααβ εν σαμαρεια εως του αφανισαι αυτον κατα το ρημα κυριου ο ελαλησεν προς ηλιου [lxx]
That is, the soldiers slew those that were easy to identify.
Those who were harder to find might require some form of trap.
33. 2 Kings 10:17
KJV: And when he came to Samaria, he slew all that remained unto Ahab in Samaria, till he had destroyed him, according to the saying of the LORD, which he spake to Elijah.
Hebrew: ויבא שמרון ויך את כל הנשארים לאחאב בשמרון עד השמידו כדבר יהוה אשר דבר אל אליהו׃
Greek: και εισηλθεν εις σαμαρειαν και επαταξεν παντας τους καταλειφθεντας του αχααβ εν σαμαρεια εως του αφανισαι αυτον κατα το ρημα κυριου ο ελαλησεν προς ηλιου
34. Matthew 22:7 Host of armies
35. Matthew 21:41 Miserably wicked
Matthew 21:41 They say unto him, He will miserably destroy those wicked men, and will let out his vineyard unto other husbandmen, which shall render him the fruits in their seasons. [kjv]
λεγουσιν αυτω κακους κακως απολεσει αυτους και τον αμπελωνα εκδωσεται αλλοις γεωργοις οιτινες αποδωσουσιν αυτω τους καρπους εν τοις καιροις αυτων [gnt]
What exactly are
"miserably" "wicked" "men"?
"κακοὺς" ≈ "bad" (adjective, as used).
"κακῶς" ≈ "bad" (adverb, as used).
Suppose the
"vineyard" contains both "
good" and
"bad" "husbandmen". How might one entice the
"bad" "husbandmen" to self-identify so they can receive their
just desserts?
36. Matthew 21:41 Bird calls
"κακοὺς" ≈ "bad" (adjective, as used).
"κακῶς" ≈ "bad" (adverb, as used).
"κόκκῦ" ≈ "cuckoo" as a call of a bird.
As in English (and any other language), anything close to the imitative sound would be taken as a
cuckoo.
[bad birds, Angry Birds]
37. Matthew 21:41 Bird calls

Audubon Bird
Call - Red
|
Hunters use "
bird" "
calls" to attract "
birds". The exact call used depends on the type of "
bird" one is trying to attract/trap.
Example from military, business, games, etc.
Call one's bluff.
For to show one's cards.
... and so on ...
38. Matthew 21:41
Question: How might the real
"householder" use bird calls to attract birds and get them to self-identify themselves as not doing what they were supposed to do so that they can be "
destroyed"?
Answer: Check the next parable at the start of the next chapter.
Why only
2 bird calls? What happens before
3 bird calls?
39. 2 Kings 10:18
2 Kings 10:18 And Jehu gathered all the people together, and said unto them, Ahab served Baal a little; but Jehu shall serve him much. [kjv]
και συνηθροισεν ιου παντα τον λαον και ειπεν προς αυτους αχααβ εδουλευσεν τω βααλ ολιγα και γε ιου δουλευσει αυτω πολλα [lxx]
The "
leader" will always want you to say "
aye aye" and agree with them.
Yes sir, yes sir, three bags full. (from the children's poem
Baa baa black sheep, have you any wool.)
40. 2 Kings 10:18
KJV: And Jehu gathered all the people together, and said unto them, Ahab served Baal a little; but Jehu shall serve him much.
Hebrew: ויקבץ יהוא את כל העם ויאמר אלהם אחאב עבד את הבעל מעט יהוא יעבדנו הרבה׃
Greek: και συνηθροισεν ιου παντα τον λαον και ειπεν προς αυτους αχααβ εδουλευσεν τω βααλ ολιγα και γε ιου δουλευσει αυτω πολλα
41. 2 Kings 10:19 Destroy the servants
2 Kings 10:19 Now therefore call unto me all the prophets of Baal, all his servants, and all his priests; let none be wanting: for I have a great sacrifice to do to Baal; whosoever shall be wanting, he shall not live. But Jehu did it in subtilty, to the intent that he might destroy the worshippers of Baal. [kjv]
και νυν παντες οι προφηται του βααλ παντας τους δουλους αυτου και τους ιερεις αυτου καλεσατε προς με ανηρ μη επισκεπητω οτι θυσια μεγαλη μοι τω βααλ πας ος εαν επισκεπη ου ζησεται και ιου εποιησεν εν πτερνισμω ινα απολεση τους δουλους του βααλ [lxx]
The ancient Greek word
"ἀπόλλυμι" ≈ "destroy, perish".
The ancient Greek word
"δουλους" ≈ "servants".
42. Destroy servants
[kjv]

Matthew 21:41 They say unto him, He will miserably destroy those wicked men, … [kjv]
λεγουσιν αυτω κακους κακως απολεσει αυτους … [gnt]
43. 2 Kings 10:19 Wings
The Greek word translated as
"subtilty" is that of
"feathers" or
"wings" (of
"birds"). The ancient Greek word
"πτερύγιον" ≈ "fin, wing, etc." and comes from
"πτέρυξ" ≈ "winged creature, flipper" and comes from
"πτερόν" ≈ "feather, wing" but could be any
"winged" creature.
The ancient Greek word
"πτερόν" ≈ "feather, wing" which is cognate with the English word
"feather". The Greek word forms the
"pter" part of the English word
"helicopter" (turning wing) and
"pterodactyl" (winged finger).
44. Matthew 23:37 Winged pinnacles
Matthew 23:37 O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, thou that killest the prophets, and stonest them which are sent unto thee, how often would I have gathered thy children together, even as a hen gathereth her chickens under her wings, and ye would not ! [kjv]
ιερουσαλημ ιερουσαλημ η αποκτεινουσα τους προφητας και λιθοβολουσα τους απεσταλμενους προς αυτην ποσακις ηθελησα επισυναγαγειν τα τεκνα σου ον τροπον ορνις επισυναγει τα νοσσια αυτης υπο τας πτερυγας και ουκ ηθελησατε [gnt]
What is the
"wing"? The ancient Greek word
"πτερύγιον" ≈ "fin, wing, etc." and comes from
"πτέρυξ" ≈ "winged creature, flipper" and comes from
"πτερόν" ≈ "feather, wing" but could be any
"winged" creature.
The ancient Greek word
"πτερόν" ≈ "feather, wing" which is cognate with the English word
"feather". The Greek word forms the
"pter" part of the English word
"helicopter" (turning wing) and
"pterodactyl" (winged finger).
45. Matthew 4:5 Winged pinnacles
Matthew 4:5 Then the devil taketh him up into the holy city, and setteth him on a pinnacle of the temple, [kjv]
τοτε παραλαμβανει αυτον ο διαβολος εις την αγιαν πολιν και εστησεν αυτον επι το πτερυγιον του ιερου [gnt]
The ancient Greek word
"πτερύγιον" ≈ "fin, wing, etc." . In the
GNT (Greek New Testament) it is sometimes the
"pinnacle" of the "
temple" rather than a
"wing" of the "
temple". The
Late Latin word
"pinnaculum" ≈ "peak, pinnacle" and is from the Latin word
"pinna" ≈ "plume, wing, parapet". The Late Latin meaning appears to have been influenced by the meaning that had been decided for the
GNT verses.
Might each "
kingdom" of the "
world" be a
"wing" of the empires of the "
world"? One talks of the
"wing" of a "
museum", etc. Perhaps it was a
flying temple where Jesus was on
the "wing". Saying:
When pigs fly (they become
birds).
[Edgar Allen Poe]
46. 2 Kings 10:19 King Jehu and Baal
"καλεσατε" ≈ "call" (as used).
"καλέε" ≈ "call" (imperative).
"Σατᾶν" ≈ "Satan" or "Σᾰτᾰ́ν" ≈ "Satan".
The ancient Greek word
"καλεσατε" ≈ "call", in this exact form, appears
13 times in the
LXX and
1 time in the
GNT.
47. Call the servants
Matthew 22:9 Go ye therefore into the highways, and as many as ye shall find, bid to the marriage. [kjv]
πορευεσθε ουν επι τας διεξοδους των οδων και οσους εαν ευρητε καλεσατε εις τους γαμους [gnt]
48. Call the servants
Matthew 22:9 Go ye therefore into the highways, and as many as ye shall find, bid to the marriage. [kjv]
πορευεσθε ουν επι τας διεξοδους των οδων και οσους εαν ευρητε καλεσατε εις τους γαμους [gnt]
The ancient Greek word
"καλεσατε" ≈ "call", in this exact form, appears
13 times in the
LXX, including in the story of Jehu, but only
1 time in the
GNT, right here. The play on words is that of
"call" "Satan".
49. Matthew 13:33 Satanic measures three
Matthew 13:33 Another parable spake he unto them; The kingdom of heaven is like unto leaven, which a woman took, and hid in three measures of meal, till the whole was leavened. [kjv]
αλλην παραβολην ελαλησεν αυτοις ομοια εστιν η βασιλεια των ουρανων ζυμη ην λαβουσα γυνη ενεκρυψεν εις αλευρου σατα τρια εως ου εζυμωθη ολον [gnt]
"σατα" ≈ "measures".
"τρια" ≈ "three".
"σαταν" ≈ "Satan".
Can you think of ways that these allusions might be
"encrypted" in the
"wheat" or
"meal"?
☐
σατα τρια (sata tria) as "
measures three" (as written)
☐
σαταν τρια (Satan tria) as "
Satan three"
☐
σαταρίς τρια (sataris tria) as "
woman's headdress three"
☐
στατηρα τρια (statira tria) as "
temple tax coin three"
50. Revelation 13:18 Count satan
51. Build-up to the punch line play on words
 |

To each of the seven churches: "He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches ..."
|
1-7: Churches: "hear" "sato" "what?" Might these be related to the seven evil spirits that return to the "house" in Matthew 12?
9: Bowls: "count" "Satan" (serpent, dragon).
52. 2 Kings 10:19
KJV: Now therefore call unto me all the prophets of Baal, all his servants, and all his priests; let none be wanting: for I have a great sacrifice to do to Baal; whosoever shall be wanting, he shall not live. But Jehu did it in subtilty, to the intent that he might destroy the worshippers of Baal.
Hebrew: ועתה כל נביאי הבעל כל עבדיו וכל כהניו קראו אלי איש אל יפקד כי זבח גדול לי לבעל כל אשר יפקד לא יחיה ויהוא עשה בעקבה למען האביד את עבדי הבעל׃

53. 2 Kings 10:20 Assembly
2 Kings 10:20 And Jehu said, Proclaim a solemn assembly for Baal. And they proclaimed it. [kjv]
και ειπεν ιου αγιασατε ιερειαν τω βααλ και εκηρυξαν [lxx]
This is unlike a round TUIT which requires
intuition.
[Santa Claus and Satan Claus]
Who might
ignore such a call or proclamation? Admiral Ackbar from Star Wars: "
It's a trap!". Yogi Berra:
Nobody goes there. It's too crowded.
Saying:
Be there or be square! (1930's Jazz slang)
Be a round for the performance or be square.
54. 2 Kings 10:20
KJV: And Jehu said, Proclaim a solemn assembly for Baal. And they proclaimed it.
Hebrew: ויאמר יהוא קדשו עצרה לבעל ויקראו׃
Greek: και ειπεν ιου αγιασατε ιερειαν τω βααλ και εκηρυξαν
55. Matthew 22:5 Expired membership
56. Send the invitations
2 Kings 10:21 And Jehu sent through all Israel: and all the worshippers of Baal came, so that there was not a man left that came not. … [kjv]
και απεστειλεν ιου εν παντι ισραηλ λεγων και νυν παντες οι δουλοι του βααλ και … [lxx]
Matthew 22:3 And sent forth his servants to call them that were bidden to the wedding: and they would not come. [kjv]
και απεστειλεν τους δουλους αυτου καλεσαι τους κεκλημενους εις τους γαμους και ουκ ηθελον ελθειν [gnt]
The "
king"
"sends" the
message to all the
"servants" of "
Baal".
57. Matthew 22:10 Fill the pews
Matthew 22:10 So those servants went out into the highways, and gathered together all as many as they found, both bad and good: and the wedding was furnished with guests. [kjv]
και εξελθοντες οι δουλοι εκεινοι εις τας οδους συνηγαγον παντας ους ευρον πονηρους τε και αγαθους και επλησθη ο νυμφων ανακειμενων [gnt]
The "
house" was
"full". The "
pews" were
"filled".
The ancient Greek word
"ἐπλήσθη" ≈ "filled" is used in this exact form
22 times in the
LXX and
5 times in the
GNT but only
1 time by Jesus, in Matthew 22:10.
58. 2 Kings 10:21
KJV: And Jehu sent through all Israel: and all the worshippers of Baal came, so that there was not a man left that came not. And they came into the house of Baal; and the house of Baal was full from one end to another.
59. 2 Kings 10:22 Vestments
2 Kings 10:22 And he said unto him that was over the vestry, Bring forth vestments for all the worshippers of Baal. And he brought them forth vestments. [kjv]
και ειπεν ιου τω επι του οικου μεσθααλ εξαγαγε ενδυματα πασι τοις δουλοις του βααλ και εξηνεγκεν αυτοις ο στολιστης [lxx]
Special
"clothing" or
"garments" were used.
The English word
"stole", as a garment (around the neck and hanging down) comes, through French and Latin, from the ancient Greek word
"στολή" ≈ "stole, garment, equipment".
I found a very old stole made out of metal fibers at a price you would not believe. It was a steal of a stale steel stole!
60. Matthew 22:11-12 Vestments
Matthew 22:11 And when the king came in to see the guests, he saw there a man which had not on a wedding garment: [kjv]
εισελθων δε ο βασιλευς θεασασθαι τους ανακειμενους ειδεν εκει ανθρωπον ουκ ενδεδυμενον ενδυμα γαμου [gnt]
22:12 And he saith unto him, Friend, how camest thou in hither not having a wedding garment? And he was speechless. [kjv]
και λεγει αυτω εταιρε πως εισηλθες ωδε μη εχων ενδυμα γαμου ο δε εφιμωθη [gnt]
61. 2 Kings 10:22
KJV: And he said unto him that was over the vestry, Bring forth vestments for all the worshippers of Baal. And he brought them forth vestments.
Hebrew: ויאמר לאשר על המלתחה הוצא לבוש לכל עבדי הבעל ויצא להם המלבוש׃
Greek: και ειπεν ιου τω επι του οικου μεσθααλ εξαγαγε ενδυματα πασι τοις δουλοις του βααλ και εξηνεγκεν αυτοις ο στολιστης
62. 2 Kings 10:23 Servants
2 Kings 10:23 And Jehu went, and Jehonadab the son of Rechab, into the house of Baal, and said unto the worshippers of Baal, Search, and look that there be here with you none of the servants of the LORD, but the worshippers of Baal only. [kjv]
και εισηλθεν ιου και ιωναδαβ υιος ρηχαβ εις οικον του βααλ και ειπεν τοις δουλοις του βααλ ερευνησατε και ιδετε ει εστιν μεθ υμων των δουλων κυριου οτι αλλ η οι δουλοι του βααλ μονωτατοι [lxx]
The Greek word translated as
"worshippers" is that of
"servants". Thus, in the
LXX, there are
two types of
"servants".
The "servants" of Baal.
The "servants" of the Lord.
These are not the same but may deceptively appear to be the same. Some
decision procedure is needed to determine which is which. How might the "
Father" as "
King" create a
decision procedure to help determine which are which?
63. 2 Kings 10:23
KJV: And Jehu went, and Jehonadab the son of Rechab, into the house of Baal, and said unto the worshippers of Baal, Search, and look that there be here with you none of the servants of the LORD, but the worshippers of Baal only.
64. 2 Kings 10:24 Burnt offerings
2 Kings 10:24 And when they went in to offer sacrifices and burnt offerings, Jehu appointed fourscore men without, and said, If any of the men whom I have brought into your hands escape, he that letteth him go, his life shall be for the life of him. [kjv]
και εισηλθεν του ποιησαι τα θυματα και τα ολοκαυτωματα και ιου εταξεν εαυτω εξω ογδοηκοντα ανδρας και ειπεν ανηρ ος εαν διασωθη απο των ανδρων ων εγω αναγω επι χειρας υμων η ψυχη αυτου αντι της ψυχης αυτου [lxx]
The ancient Greek word
"χείρ" ≈ "hand" and the first part of the English word
"chiropractor". ; The Greek word translated as
"burnt offerings" is that of
"holocaust".
The English word
"holocaust" comes, through French and Latin, from the ancient Greek word
"ὁλόκαυστος " ≈ "wholly burnt" as in a
"burnt offering".
"ὅλος" ≈ "whole, entire" as in the first part of the English word "hologram".
"καίω" ≈ "to burn" and is related to the English word "caustic".
Note that a
hologram is a reality or physics-based phenomena while a
fractal (self-similar) object is a logic or information-based phenomena.
65. 2 Kings 10:24
KJV: And when they went in to offer sacrifices and burnt offerings, Jehu appointed fourscore men without, and said, If any of the men whom I have brought into your hands escape, he that letteth him go, his life shall be for the life of him.
66. 2 Kings 10:25 Many in the city
2 Kings 10:25 And it came to pass, as soon as he had made an end of offering the burnt offering, that Jehu said to the guard and to the captains, Go in, and slay them; let none come forth. And they smote them with the edge of the sword; and the guard and the captains cast them out, and went to the city of the house of Baal. [kjv]
και εγενετο ως συνετελεσεν ποιων την ολοκαυτωσιν και ειπεν ιου τοις παρατρεχουσιν και τοις τρισταταις εισελθοντες παταξατε αυτους ανηρ μη εξελθατω εξ αυτων και επαταξαν αυτους εν στοματι ρομφαιας και ερριψαν οι παρατρεχοντες και οι τρισταται και επορευθησαν εως πολεως οικου του βααλ [lxx]
"πολύς" ≈ "many" (accent on second/last syllable).
"πόλις" ≈ "city" (accent on first syllable) as in ending of English words such as "metropolis".
67. 2 Kings 10:25
KJV: And it came to pass, as soon as he had made an end of offering the burnt offering, that Jehu said to the guard and to the captains, Go in, and slay them; let none come forth. And they smote them with the edge of the sword; and the guard and the captains cast them out, and went to the city of the house of Baal.
68. 2 Kings 10:26 Burning desire
69. Burnt offerings
2 Kings 10:26 And they brought forth the images out of the house of Baal, and burned them. [kjv]
και εξηνεγκαν την στηλην του βααλ και ενεπρησαν αυτην [lxx]
Matthew 22:7 But when the king heard thereof, he was wroth: and he sent forth his armies, and destroyed those murderers, and burned up their city. [kjv]
ο δε βασιλευς ωργισθη και πεμψας τα στρατευματα αυτου απωλεσεν τους φονεις εκεινους και την πολιν αυτων ενεπρησεν [gnt]
"ενεπρησαν" ≈ "burned" (plural, 9 times in the LXX).
"ενεπρησεν" ≈ "burned" (singular, 8 times in the LXX, 1 time in the GNT).
Might there be a connection?
70. 2 Kings 10:26
KJV: And they brought forth the images out of the house of Baal, and burned them.
Hebrew: ויצאו את מצבות בית הבעל וישרפוה׃
Greek: και εξηνεγκαν την στηλην του βααλ και ενεπρησαν αυτην
71. Exodus 34:13
Exodus 34:13 But ye shall destroy their altars, break their images, and cut down their groves: [kjv]
τους βωμους αυτων καθελειτε και τας στηλας αυτων συντριψετε και τα αλση αυτων εκκοψετε και τα γλυπτα των θεων αυτων κατακαυσετε εν πυρι [lxx]
72. Exodus 34:13
KJV: But ye shall destroy their altars, break their images, and cut down their groves:
Hebrew: כי את מזבחתם תתצון ואת מצבתם תשברון ואת אשריו תכרתון׃
Greek: τους βωμους αυτων καθελειτε και τας στηλας αυτων συντριψετε και τα αλση αυτων εκκοψετε και τα γλυπτα των θεων αυτων κατακαυσετε εν πυρι
73. 2 Kings 10:27-28 Baal
2 Kings 10:27 And they brake down the image of Baal, and brake down the house of Baal, and made it a draught house unto this day. [kjv]
και κατεσπασαν τας στηλας του βααλ και καθειλον τον οικον του βααλ και εταξαν αυτον εις λυτρωνας εως της ημερας ταυτης [lxx]
10:28 Thus Jehu destroyed Baal out of Israel. [kjv]
και ηφανισεν ιου τον βααλ εξ ισραηλ [lxx]
The English word
"spastic" comes, through Latin, from the ancient Greek word
"σπαστικός" ≈ "drawing in, absorbing".
The Greek word translated as
"destroyed" is that of
"(make) disappear".
[Totalitarianism]
74. 2 Kings 10:27 Draught house
2 Kings 10:27 And they brake down the image of Baal, and brake down the house of Baal, and made it a draught house unto this day. [kjv]
και κατεσπασαν τας στηλας του βααλ και καθειλον τον οικον του βααλ και εταξαν αυτον εις λυτρωνας εως της ημερας ταυτης [lxx]
et comminuerunt eam destruxerunt quoque aedem Baal et fecerunt pro ea latrinas usque ad diem hanc [v]
… brenten … braken … destrieden … hows … priuyes … [wy]
The
"draught house" is a
"latrine". The Wycliffe uses
"privy". The Latin word
"latrinas" ≈ "latrine" appears only is this verse in the
LXX and not in the
GNT.
75. Romans: Under the law as in sewer pipes
2 Kings 10:27 And they brake down the image of Baal, and brake down the house of Baal, and made it a draught house unto this day. [kjv]
και κατεσπασαν τας στηλας του βααλ και καθειλον τον οικον του βααλ και εταξαν αυτον εις λυτρωνας εως της ημερας ταυτης [lxx]
et comminuerunt eam destruxerunt quoque aedem Baal et fecerunt pro ea latrinas usque ad diem hanc [v]
… brenten … braken … destrieden … hows … priuyes … [wy]
The "
draught house" is a latrine. The Wycliffe uses "
privy". The Latin word
"latrinas" ≈ "latrine" appears only is this verse in the
LXX and not in the
GNT.
The corresponding Greek word here is interesting and may be an idiom.
76. 2 Kings 10:27
KJV: And they brake down the image of Baal, and brake down the house of Baal, and made it a draught house unto this day.
Hebrew: ויתצו את מצבת הבעל ויתצו את בית הבעל וישמהו למחראות עד היום׃
Greek: και κατεσπασαν τας στηλας του βααλ και καθειλον τον οικον του βααλ και εταξαν αυτον εις λυτρωνας εως της ημερας ταυτης
Latin: et comminuerunt eam destruxerunt quoque aedem Baal et fecerunt pro ea latrinas usque ad diem hanc
Wycliffe: and brenten it, and al to braken it. Also thei destrieden the hows of Baal, and maden priuyes for it `til in to this dai.
Slavonic: и разбиша кумиры Вааловы, и низвергоша дом Ваалов, и определиша его на афедрон даже до дне сего.
Russian: И разбили статую Ваала, и разрушили капище Ваалово; и сделали из него место нечистот, до сего дня.
77. 2 Kings 10:28
KJV: Thus Jehu destroyed Baal out of Israel.
Hebrew: וישמד יהוא את הבעל מישראל׃
Greek: και ηφανισεν ιου τον βααλ εξ ισραηλ
78. 2 Kings 10:29
2 Kings 10:29 Howbeit from the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, who made Israel to sin, Jehu departed not from after them, to wit, the golden calves that were in Beth–el, and that were in Dan. [kjv]

80. 2 Kings 10:30
2 Kings 10:30 And the LORD said unto Jehu, Because thou hast done well in executing that which is right in mine eyes, and hast done unto the house of Ahab according to all that was in mine heart, thy children of the fourth generation shall sit on the throne of Israel. [kjv]
και ειπεν κυριος προς ιου ανθ ων οσα ηγαθυνας ποιησαι το ευθες εν οφθαλμοις μου και παντα οσα εν τη καρδια μου εποιησας τω οικω αχααβ υιοι τεταρτοι καθησονται σοι επι θρονου ισραηλ [lxx]
81. 2 Kings 10:30
KJV: And the LORD said unto Jehu, Because thou hast done well in executing that which is right in mine eyes, and hast done unto the house of Ahab according to all that was in mine heart, thy children of the fourth generation shall sit on the throne of Israel.
82. Matthew 22:1-4 Parable of the wedding feast 1
Matthew 22:2 The kingdom of heaven is like unto a certain king, which made a marriage for his son, [kjv]
ωμοιωθη η βασιλεια των ουρανων ανθρωπω βασιλει οστις εποιησεν γαμους τω υιω αυτου [gnt]
I'm just
whetting (i.e., wedding) your appetite for more! It's the
feast I can do! Common analogies:
The "Father" is "God" as the "King".
"Christ" is the "groom".
The "church" is the "bride".
What is a common interpretation of this "
parable"?
The
ancient Greek word
"ὁμοιόσω" ≈ "I liken", as in an
analogy, is a play on words with
"ὁ Μωϋσῆ" ≈ "the Moses". A somewhat similar story is in Luke 14:7-24.
